Varelie is a strategist and ecosystem builder. She leads innovation initiatives and is dedicated to empowering founders to build socially conscious businesses. In 2015, an island native, Varelie co-founded ATECH* with a mission to develop the startup and technology ecosystem in Aruba and the Caribbean region through community, an annual conference, and accelerator program (ATECH* XL). She is also the co-founder of a Dutch fintech startup, Eyevestor (a decentralized equity marketplace).
She was named a global change-maker by the World Bank Youth Steering Committee for her unique approach to leadership and inspiring entrepreneurs to drive change. Varelie is an accomplished keynote speaker and sought after thought-leader on startup ecosystems and fintech. She has spoken at TEDx, The World Bank, United Nations and tech events, and has been featured in Forbes, Tech.Co and MasterCard Biz.
As a Private Equity and Growth Equity expert with over a decade of experience in Financial Services, Varelie has spearheaded billion dollar global deals and worked with several of the world’s largest investment funds and Fortune 500 companies.
Prior to founding The Liv Group, Varelie has had a distinguished career as Director of International Tax Financial Services at PricewaterhouseCoopers New York. She has worked in The Netherlands and Aruba as a mergers and acquisitions tax lawyer. Varelie also specializes in LATAM, Caribbean, as well as Emerging markets. She received her Masters in Law from Leiden University, The Netherlands.
