William is General Partner at Virtual Capital Ventures, a boutique style, early-stage technology venture capital firm, focused on decentralized peer-to-peer technologies and applications. Based in Toronto, the VcapV fund is advised and backed by some of the industry’s top players.
William is on the Board of Directors of OB1, the OpenBazaar open source protocol that is pioneering decentralized peer-to-peer commerce, a Board Advisor to the Ethereum Foundation, the leading blockchain technology platform for decentralized applications, a member of OMERS Ventures Board of Advisors, an Advisory Board member to the Coin Center, the Washington DC-based leading non-profit research and advocacy center focused on the public policy issues facing cryptocurrency technologies, and founder of Startup Management.
During the Internet early years, he was the founding chairman of CommerceNet Canada, consulted to Fortune 500 companies, and authored 2 pioneering books, Opening Digital Markets (McGraw-Hill), and The Business Internet and Intranets (Harvard Business School Press).
In addition to having founded 3 companies,- Engagio, Eqentia, and CYBERManagement, his corporate career included senior management positions at Hewlett-Packard, AberdeenGroup and Cognizant in sales, marketing, business process reengineering and senior analyst positions. William is a graduate of the University of Washington, the University of Western Ontario Ivey School of Business, and attended the University of British Columbia Graduate Commerce School.
